Rik Olson’s “Reliquary to the Negative Space”!

This object, by the masterful print maker Rik Olson, was created to illustrate negative space of the relief. It is 24″ high and is created using two bell jars, set on an embellished wooden base.  One holds the wood and linoleum chips that are the residue that occurs as he scratches away-creating his magnificent images! The other jar depicts the negative space. The definition of a reliquary is a shrine in which sacred elements are kept.
